Amrita School of Engineering
Aerospace Engineering
(AEE)
B.Tech Aerospace Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore is a research-intensive undergraduate program designed to prepare students for careers in aerospace, defense, aviation, and space exploration. Established in 2007, the program combines strong theoretical foundations with hands-on laboratory experience and industry-relevant training.
With a focused intake of 60 students per batch, the program offers personalized academic mentoring, advanced laboratory facilities, and opportunities to engage with emerging technologies shaping the future of flight and space systems.
The curriculum is structured around four major pillars of aerospace engineering, enabling students to develop expertise across the complete aerospace ecosystem.
Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics
Students study airflow around aircraft and aerospace vehicles, low-speed and high-speed aerodynamics, supersonic and hypersonic flows, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques used to improve aircraft performance and efficiency.
Propulsion Systems
The program covers aircraft and rocket propulsion technologies including internal combustion engines, gas turbine engines, jet propulsion systems, and advanced rocket propulsion technologies used in modern aerospace applications.
Aerospace Structures and Materials
Students learn the design and analysis of lightweight, high-strength aerospace structures using aerospace-grade alloys, composite materials, and advanced manufacturing technologies used in aircraft and spacecraft development.
Flight Mechanics, Avionics, Guidance and Control
This area focuses on aircraft stability, navigation systems, avionics integration, guidance technologies, flight control systems, and the intelligent systems that enable safe and efficient aircraft and spacecraft operations.
The program equips students with a strong foundation in aerospace science and engineering while providing exposure to emerging technologies and research opportunities in aviation, defense, and space sectors.
